Harvey School Parents' Association
Mission: As parents of Harvey children, we stay actively involved in our children’s education by providing support and services outside the classroom. Throughout the year, the Parents’ Association organizes programs and events that build community and support the School’s mission and goals. Hosting speakers who address topics of interest to parents, helping to welcome new families into the Harvey community and helping to keep the School and the parents connected are all the responsibilities of the Parents’ Association.

| 5 | Volunteer Opportunities:
There are many exciting volunteer opportunities for the 2009-2010 school year, take a look!
- Booster Club
The Booster Club supports the Harvey athletic teams with enthusiasm. The team parents coordinate refreshments for each game and help arrange a season-end party, and coach gift. Work is mostly by e-mail, lining up parents to donate drinks or snacks.
- Caring and Sharing
Caring and Sharing helps members of the Harvey Community when there is a time of celebration, or a time of need. Harvey parents swing into action when a new baby arrives, a health issue comes up, or an emergency makes it difficult for a family to cope. If you can lend a hand arranging a dinner, running errands, or purchasing gifts, please sign up to help. If you hear of anyone who needs assistance, please call the Committee Chair.
- Class Parents
Class Parents play an important role in communicating between the school and fellow parents. They facilitate parent communication of issues and information to the school, attend monthly Parent Association Executive Committee meetings, and disseminate information to parents in a timely fashion.
- Harvey Family Weekend
Harvey Family Weekend is a great opportunity to see our sports teams in action. Volunteer to help at the 11th annual Harvey Family Weekend, October 30-October 31.
- Mailing Committee
Stuffing envelopes is a necessary task-but this group actually has enormous fun sharing ideas and school perspectives. Monthly work takes 1-2 hours and is scheduled right after morning drop-off.
- Middle School Social Committee
This committee organizes dances and various events for the middle school. Volunteers are needed to decorate, donate refreshments, and chaperone events.
- News and Views
The Parents’ Association publishes a quarterly newsletter to inform Harvey families about all Parents’ Association events and activities. This newsletter also highlights student accomplishments on the field and stage, and important school information and happenings. Those parents with writing and photography skills are always welcome.
- PEAK(Parent Education Awareness & Knowledge)
Through PEAK, the Parents’ Association strives to develop avenues by which parents can become well educated about current topics that affect their children's lives. Committee work includes identifying topics of interest and coordinating keynote speakers and parenting classes.
- Spring Benefit
The Spring Benefit is the major fundraiser for the Parents’ Association. This brings together several hundred families and faculty members. This important event needs MANY volunteers to coordinate auction donations, publish the journal, computer administration and decorations.
- Teacher & Staff Appreciation
This committee arranges monthly snacks for faculty on the first Friday of the month, and hosts the holiday Teacher Appreciation Luncheon in December.
